G. Lynn Brown

“Twitterpated”

X marks the spot that used to be
the popular Bluebird Lounge...
it’s the place where everyone goes;
drink a beer, sip a tea...
whatever you have on hand,
pour a glass,
just don’t dribble on the keys
No neon lights to flash so bright,
just soft screen glow
and blinking cursors
to brighten the dimly lit room
Pop in for a moment,
but stay all night...
share small talk;
try to feel relevant;
network with peers;
argue with strangers
Some love it,
a lot hate it,
but everyone mingles...
I can take it or leave it,
but I mostly take it
Because X marks the spot
of the only place
we cross paths;
steal a glimpse;
exchange a smile
and polite chit chat
I hang on tightly to every word,
beautiful music to my ears
only heard
At the old Bluebird Lounge
So tomorrow night,
I’ll return and join the trend,
simply because
#cannotwaittoseeyouagain
